PTP wines A wine can obtain the label PTP - Recognized Traditional Denomination on the basis of Article 7 of the Law on wine (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia 105/2006). For PTP wine it is required draw up a report on the production of wine, in which the technologies of production and processing of grapes (geographical origin, vine variety, quantity and quality of grapes produced, a description of the course of the processing of grapes) must be defined. A description of the wine and the conditions under which the wine is awarded the label PTP should also be given. On the basis of the prepared report, the Ministry of Agriculture develops and publishes the Rules on the production of wines with the label PTP. All wine producers in a given area can get their wines labeled as PTP, provided that the wine meets the conditions laid down in the Rules.

Metliska crnina PTP and Belokranjec PTP are the first Slovene wines, which have been labeled PTP on the basis of the initiative of wine producers. Belokranjec PTP is however the first ever Slovene white wine, which boasts with the label PTP.

1. Metliska crnina PTP

Metliska crnina PTP is an excellent variety of wine with the expressed characteristics of each variety of vines and the area of Bela Krajina. Microclimate, soil and the diligence of hands of the Bela Krajina wine growers are the guarantee of high quality of Metliska crnina PTP. Blue Franconian is a grape variety which gives the wine richness of taste, since its share is of up to 60%. Zametna Crnina gives the wine a pleasant aroma, which reminds us of the smell of forest fruits and it represents at least 30% in the wine. The difference is formed by the other red grape varieties, such as Portugalka, Šentlovrenka and Gamay. The wine is among the medium-heavy Slovene red wines because it is qualified by medium-high alcoholic strength (between 10.3 and 11.5 vol%) and pleasant acid (5.5 to 7.0 g / l). It is important that the wine is served under an appropriate temperature, preferably between 13 and 15°C. Metliska crnina PTP is a dry wine, therefore we recommend that you enjoy it while eating. Due to its composition, it is right that the wines should be enjoyed moderately, but every day. It complements very well grill and barbecue dishes, dishes made of wild game meat and dried beef cuts. It fits extremely well with mushroom-dishes, especially boletus and chanterelles.

2. Belokranjec PTP

Belokranjec PTP is a type of wine composed of high-quality white grape varieties. The basic varieties of wine Belokranjec PTP are Laski Riesling and Kraljevina, which together represent at least half the shares. In the Belokranjec PTP wine, White Pinot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Zeleni Silvanec, Rhine Riesling, Žlahtnina and Yellow Muscat varieties may also be found. None of these varieties should have a share of more than 10% in the Belokranjec PTP wine. It is due to the varietal composition of wines, air and underground specialties of Bela Krajina and caring hands of Metlika local cellars that the wine Belokranjec PTP is characterized by the harmony of different varieties of flavorings that fabulously complement each other, and by a dry, rich and full flavor. Because of the dry and fresh taste, the wine Belokranjec can also be offered as an aperitif. It goes best to white meat, especially poultry and fish. It complements extremely well with cold appetizers and vegetarian cuisine.

In order to understand the true quality of the Belokranjec PTP wine, it is important that the wine is served appropriately chilled, preferably between 10 and 12 ° C.
